Azano Pharmaceuticals’ business is solid intellectual property applied to a large unmet medical need by a proven pharmaceutical management team that is committed to achieving an exit opportunity for investors within 5 years.  Azano is developing a C-reactive protein (CRP) product (Az-121) to treat patients with severe lupus nephritis (LN).  This CRP technology was developed by Drs. Du Clos and Mold at the University of New Mexico, and the first issued patent is expected to provide market exclusivity for Az-121 beyond 2024.  The potential of CRP to treat human LN is based upon peer reviewed results in mouse models of kidney damage where a single dose of CRP has been found to provide dramatic reversal of disease and increased survival.  Azano will develop Az-121 through a phase II human clinical trial, which is expected to demonstrate significant benefit in humans, and then sell all Az-121 rights to a bigger biopharma company within 5 years.

Desert Energy Corporation is a developer, builder and operator of kinetic hydropower projects for the generation of electricity.  We have licensed a technology that works well in low-head environments (drops less than 30 feet) where conventional rotary turbines are not cost effective.  We have chosen to begin our development in gathering kinetic energy from flowing water in man-made canals or conduits such as irrigation canals, water supply aqueducts and wastewater treatment outfalls.  We will use that experience to scale the equipment to work in rivers, oceans currents and tides.  We estimate the potential capacity in the 17 Western states supervised by the Bureau of Reclamation to be upwards of 1,000 Megawatts.  The Department of Energy estimates the potential for economic development of low-head hydro in the United States to be in excess of 22,000 Megawatts.  (That is larger than all three Arizona based utilities combined.)  The technology has been extensively tested in university laboratories and commercial scale demonstration sites.
